THE government has not made a decision on whether Air Pacific is a Fijian citizen, which is a requirement of the Civil Aviation (Ownership and Control of National Airlines) Decree 2012.
Under the decree, no airline may operate under the laws of Fiji unless it is a citizen of Fiji.
The decree also requires that at least 51 per cent of the voting interest must be owned and controlled by Fiji citizens and that at least two thirds of the board or any committee must be Fiji citizens.
Attorney General and Civil Aviation minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed that no decision has been made on the citizenship of Air Pacific following the review of its corporate governance documents.
State sells shares
NO decision has been reached on the new majority shareholder of Fiji Dairy Limited.
Trade and Industry minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed this.
The government is selling its 80 per cent shareholding in FDL, which was formerly known as Rewa Dairy Cooperative Limited.
The new owner is expected to make significant changes to improve the dairy industry across the country.
