DOCTORS have operated on a 12-year old boy to rescue a fish from his lung alive.

Anil Barela swallowed the scaly 3.5inch fish while playing in an Indian river.

Groups of youths often swallow live fish for fun but somehow this one ended up in his lung instead of his stomach.

Medics opted for emergency surgery after his oxygen levels plummeted and he began struggling for breath in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh. Dr Pramod Jhawar said: The fish was live and taking its last breath when the bronchoscopy was done, restricting the functioning of both the lungs resulting in low intake of oxygen.
