A cheque of $21,600 was presented to Christian Aid Foundation Global Compassion from the Australian government to assist them in their flood relief efforts in the Western Division.

Global Compassion president, Reverend Suliasi Kurulo thanked AusAID for the contribution.

Mr Kurulo said the money would facilitate the immediate distribution of food rations to the flood victims in the West and it would enable them to reach out to 700 families.

In a statement, Mr Kurulo said they had been working closely with DISMAC and the Commissioner Westerns Office to distribute food rations, beddings and clothing to Vitogo, Matawalu, Naviyago, Natui, Nabonivanua and Vunavau settlements in Lautoka, Ba villages Nailaga and Wavuwavu and the Navosa areas.

He added that Global Compassion had already distributed 8.5 tonnes of food to about 654 families in these areas with the support of AusAID and the Commissioner Western.
