TEAM Hawaii won the International Day Team Event that was hosted by the Fiji Golf Club Ladies at the Vatuwaqa golf course early this week.

The event sponsored by Williams and Gosling had 74 starters with each team consisting of a one lady and three men.

Lady captain Margaret Browne said the ladys score and the best two mens scores were totalled up to determine the winner.

She said the format allowed a big field to take to the course.

As an international day event, teams chose a country to represent, if not their own, a country of their choosing, Browne said.

We had teams from Kadavu, Oceania, the Islanders, China, Hawaii, Korea, Uganda, Mali, Australia, the Taj Mahal, the Flying Saucers, Blue Lagoon, India and of course Fiji, she said.

It was a very colourful day with the different costumes worn and this added to the beautiful weather and golfing conditions made it a very enjoyable competition.

Team Hawaii with Lilian Allen, Olaf Allen, Olaf Allen Sr and Malcolm Patterson scored a total of 129 stableford points.

The second placed team was Korea I with J.R. Yoon, W.S.H., K.Y. Baek and Y.J. Oh and they scored 127 stableford points.

Team Mali consisting of Pat Naisara, Matereti Tuikoro, Wili Naisara and Joni Naisara were third with 117 stableford points.

Korea II with Gye Oh, Falo Keil, Piveni and Dr. Lochan were placed fourth with 116 points while Team Uganda with Barbara Nasara, Harry Chand, Bernie Hong-Tiy and Wilson Young won the prize for the Best Dressed Team.

Browne thanked their sponsors for their continued support and also the participants for their effort.

Williams and Gosling have sponsored this event for many years now and the Fiji Golf Club Ladies are very grateful for their continuous support.
