THE International School Suva Council last month invested a total of $21,000 to upgrade the roof of a Suva school.
This initiative came on the back of a student-driven library project last year where the schools senior students cleaned, prepared and painted the Assemblies of God School (AOG) library.
International School Suva principal Anna Marsden said the councils initiative was special since the direct modelling of behaviours and actions was an effective way to teach young people.
By taking on this initiative, the school council has modelled to our students the importance of giving back to the community, Ms Marsden said. Giving back is a key philosophy of ISS and I am delighted that it has permeated to the highest level.
AOG Primary School board manager Reverend Vilimone Rokovada said: Assemblies of God Primary is forever grateful to the International School Suva Council for looking into our needs.
In 2011, International School Suva assisted in improving the Assemblies of God Primary School library and this year, it has taken a step further to changing the roof of Block A.
The Assemblies of God Primary School students can now look forward to a well-maintained classroom, he said.
