HOUSING Authority collected over $40,000 last month from 200 customers for ground rent.
This followed the authoritys campaign of boosting collections by offering discounts.
The three month ground rent discount program or 8 per cent was offered if customers paid their ground rent in May.
The May discounts were worth $3000. I would like to encourage our homeowners who are residing on HA leased land to pay their ground rent accounts and make use of the discount program that will only last until July 2012, Housing Authority chief executive officer Alipate Naiorosui said.
This is the second time HA is offering discounts.
It did the same last year and found it to be effective after it collected $0.5million in ground rent.
A 6 per cent discount on ground rent is now in place during June and 4 per cent in July to encourage its leased land homeowners to settle their accounts.
