Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) has appointed Vishnu Mohan as chief executive officer Fiji and CEO Pacific Central region to replace Norman Wilson.

Mr Mohan will take up the role in August, reporting to CEO Pacific, Michael Rowland.

A statement said Mr Mohan would be responsible for the management of the Pacific Central region, which had been expanded to include ANZs operations in Samoa, Tonga and Cook Islands in addition to Kiribati.

He would also chair ANZs regional shared services operations based in Fiji.

Mr Mohan was previously CEO for ANZ Papua New Guinea and the Pacific north west region, which included the Solomon Islands and Timor-Leste.

Prior to this, he was an adviser with ANZs partnership bank AmBank in Malaysia and spent over 30 years with Standard Chartered Bank in senior executive roles covering the Middle East, North America, Africa, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

With his extensive international banking experience and understanding of Pacific markets, Vishnu is uniquely qualified to lead our business in Fiji, Mr Rowland said.

I would like to acknowledge the significant contribution Norman has made to our business and to the wider Fijian business community since he joined ANZ Fiji in 2009, he added.

Mr Wilson said he enjoyed his three-year stint in Fiji.

I hope that during my tenure ANZ has not only cemented its position as the leading bank in the country but that we have also made people aware of our strong support for the wider community.

Vishnu brings with him vast regional and international experience that I am sure will benefit our continued growth ambitions.
