A GROUP of inmates at the Vaturekuka Corrections Centre in Labasa will today receive certificates after attending a small business workshop two weeks ago.
The Northern Development Program-organised workshop, was to teach inmates how to start their own businesses upon their release.
Centre supervisor Assistant Superintendant of Prisons Penisoni Tuapati said the training was to help inmates manage their business.
Free clinic
AN interplast medical team from New Zealand and Australia will visit Labasa in July to provide free consultation.
The team will offer their service to patients with conditions including cleft lip and palates and acquired conditions like burn scar contractures, hand injuries and tumours.
An, Australian High Commission statement said patients should contact the Surgical Unit at the Labasa Hospital for an appointment.
Defiling case
POLICE have arrested five men for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old mentally-challenged girl.
Fiji Police Force media officer north Constable Luke Rawalai said the men, from a village in Cakaudrove, were taken in this week and kept at the Savusavu Police Station.
I cannot comment on whether the men have been charged but I can confirm that they are in police custody.
