Suva celebrates FACT victory

SUVA came to a standstill yesterday as their soccer heroes paraded through the capital city to celebrate their Vodafone Fiji FACT win.

Suva defeated Ba 1-0 last weekend following Nathan Shivam's stunner to win the major title after a lapse of 17 years.

Fans clad in white came in large numbers to show their support and meet their heroes.

The celebration started with a colourful float procession from the Flea Market to Sukuna Park.

An evening function was also held at Suva Civic Auditorium, where players were presented with the cash bonuses and gifts.

Suva Football Association president Mahen Prasad said it was a happy moment for their fans, who were starved of a major tournament victory for long.

He said the support from the fans and business community was overwhelming and assured of more victories in the upcoming tournaments.

* More on the Suva Fiji FACT celebration tomorrow.
