A FAMILY is pondering their future after a fire destroyed their four bedroom house.
The fire on Friday afternoon razed the house in Rifle Range, Lautoka.
While Josefa Rokomatu, 55, and his family were trying to recover from the incident yesterday, he estimated damage to his house and belongings at $90,000.
Mr Rokomatu said the house was not insured and it would take time for the family to re-build their lives.
He was at work when the fire started while his wife, niece and two grandchildren were at home.
"I was working when the news was relayed to me," he said.
"Luckily no one was injured during the fire. My niece told me that the fire started from one of the bedrooms and luckily all escaped unhurt.
"We really don't know the cause of the fire."
Mr Rokomatu said nine people were staying in the house, all of whom are living with a neighbour now.
"We will have to re-build our lives and we will take each day as it comes."
He said he would rebuild his new home once the investigation was completed.
Mr Rokomatu works for Fiji Hardwood Company.
Police and the National Fire Authority are carrying out investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire.
