FIJI Table Tennis Association have named a young team to take part in the Oceania and Pacific Championships to be held at the Vodafone Arena next month.

FTTA selected a 16-member team including junior players to represent Fiji in Suva, and this excludes some of the leading players that represented the country at the Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia last year.

FTTA interim president and Lautoka Table Tennis vice-president Heimo Guttersberger said they had named a young team for exposure. He said the senior players were ruled out of the tournament for personal commitments.

"Most of our leading players will not play this time because of variety of reason so I believe it is time to give these young players a chance to impress. It will be a good experience for them as they gain exposure in international competition," he said.

Guttersberger said they had faith in the young players to carry the nation's hope at the championship which starts on June 3.
