THE 54-year old woman allegedly stabbed to death by her 60-year old husband in Cakaudrove died from severe blood loss.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro yesterday said the post-mortem examination carried out on Friday revealed that Mere Logasomo died of excessive loss of blood.

She said investigations were continuing.

It is not clear at this stage whether the son of the couple, Jolame Rakaba, had been released by police.

Police had taken him in on Thursday evening to question him over the alleged murder which took place at his house.

Mrs Logasomo was having lunch at her son's house in Navetau settlement, Vunilagi, when her husband Josateki Rakaba walked in.

The two discussed their marital problems after being separated for more than a year and if there was any chance of them getting back together.

Their daughter Emele Baleinarawa said when her mum told her dad that she would never return to him, he grabbed the knife and allegedly stabbed her.
