A BILLY goat from Tabia outside Labasa Town has become the centre of attraction for people living in the area after it started to breastfeed on a female dog for survival a fortnight ago.

The little goat now known as Choti decided to breastfeed on the dog when its mother passed away two weeks ago.

Not just another good looking and brownish goat, Choti also has a smooth and chubby body that leaves people astounded.

Owner, Hemant Kumar said it was a miracle Choti survived without its mother.

"We were initially surprised when we saw the goat feeding onto the dog because we know such a situation was impossible," he said.

"The dog also gave birth to three little puppies two weeks ago and it was at this time, Choti was left without a mother.

"A lot of people living in this area continue to visit us as they try to witness the breastfeeding take place between Choti and the dog."

Mr Kumar said they were fortunate Choti was alive, adding it was a miracle it survived on a dog's breast milk. "Choti is healthy and when it wanders around with the little puppies every day, we are often mistaken because we tend to think it's also a puppy."

"We love animals so much and this is also the first time we have come across such a situation like this."

"We will take good care of our animals because they are like children to us," he said.
