THE distinguished career of the late Sir Moti Tikaram is an example to the rest of Fiji.
"Sir Moti was held in high esteem by members of all communities and people from all walks of life," said Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry. In a statement, Mr Chaudhry sent his condolences to the family of the late ombudsman.
"Sir Moti had a long and distinguished judicial career. He holds the distinction of being the first local to be appointed a magistrate and a puisne judge ù both appointments being made during the colonial era when it was considered exceptional for a local to be elevated to such positions."
Mr Chaudhry said the late ombudsman was respected for his achievements in his career.
Mr Chaudhry offered his sympathies to Sir Moti's children ù Savita, Anil and Sunil.
