THE Macuata Netball Association has started its club competition in Labasa in an effort to revive netball after a one-year lapse.

And the MNA has called on interested teams to come and be part of the competition which would continue throughout the year.

Association vice president Asena Camaivuna said they had registered a total of eight teams for women and four teams in mixed competition.

"We have been competing for three weeks now and so far we have 12 teams participating," Camaivuna said.

"The competition had stopped last year because of lack of funding and support from the public but we have decided to revive it this year to promote the sport.

"There are a lot of potential players here in the north and they need exposure and we believe the platform of exposing them is through such competitions," she said.

Camaivuna said the competition would be held every Saturday at the Katonivere and Naodamu grounds depending on their schedules.

"We would be very grateful if people show their support towards the competition and if they can treat netball as a game worth watching like soccer and rugby.

"We need to expose these potential players so they can make a mark for themselves and hopefully become national reps," she said.
