SEVENTY two golfers enjoyed a good time out at the Fiji Premium Pro-Am Golf Championship at Denarau Golf and Racquet Club yesterday.
As expected, Mother Nature graced the annual event with sunshine to put a wide smile on the golfers' cheeks.
Denarau Golf and Racquet Club operation and event officer Oripa Tuinayau said they were happy to start the tournament.
"Day one was ended on a successful note. Altogether, 72 golfers from around the country turned up for the event and I believe they all enjoyed their time out there in the golf course," Tuinayau said.
"It was fine weather and the course was in fine condition."
She said the second day would be more interesting as golfers gave their last shot as who would emerge as the winner after today.
Sponsors, Fosters Group Fiji Limited is giving away $6000 for the winner in the professional category while the amateur golfers receive giveaways.
"We are expecting the final day to be very competitive. I think the all golfers know where they stand now after day one so definitely they will want to better their performance tomorrow (today)," Tuinayau said.
Meanwhile Tuinayau thanked the sponsors for their generous support to sponsor the tournament for another season.
