MORE than 300 people from seven villages in Nadogo, Macuata recently installed a new chief รน the Tui Nubu, Ratu Osea Batiloga.

The installation of the 59-year-old chief took place in the presence of villagers with paternal, maternal and traditional links to Nubu Village.

The ceremony was carried out in adherence to protocol by traditional heads from the six clans (yavusa) of Ede ede, Savuriki, Korolevu, Wawari, Vadramata and Savu.

The chief's sister, Adi Makitalena, said Ratu Osea was the fifth chief to be installed as their traditional leader.

"This is certainly a historic event for us and a story that will be passed down to our younger generation," Adi Makitalena said.

Ratu Osea urged parents and elders to be good role models and to preserve their tradition and cultural values because it was their true identity.

Ratu Osea will head the seven villages of Navukebuli, Wainidrua, Nakelikoso, Nadave, Nabutubutu, Vuisavu and Nubu.
