OPERATION Gaunavou recorded no criminal activity at a rugby tournament in Savusavu despite the presence of a huge crowd, says police north media officer Luke Rawalai.
He said this showed the success of Operation Gaunavou despite the vast crowd that watched the Fiji Bitter Gaunavou 7s tournament and those who attended the New Methodist Church annual conference.
"We named it Operation Gaunavou because of the tournament and it was a success in the area of Savusavu as we had officers on patrol around Ganilau Park," he said.
"A police dog from Labasa was also used as part of our patrol in Savusavu, so generally we received positive results."
Mr Rawalai said a few officers were also stationed at different points in the town because of the large crowd.
"The town area was also crowded with those who came for holidays and church members who travelled from Viti Levu for the New Methodist Church conference," he said.
He also thanked the community for their help to maintain a crime-free weekend.
