Other locations should be showcased: Ali

A BUSINESSMAN believes that other locations in the country should be showcased for movie production.

Wahid Ali of Denarau, Nadi said there were some wonderful locations in the country to shoot movies.

Mr Ali said movie producers should be showed the other beautiful scenes in the country.

"There are some other wonderful locations in the country, especially if you drive down towards Rakiraki," he said.

His posh house, The Cove on Denarau, was used for the shooting of Bollywood movie Supermodel.

Mr Ali said he was reluctant at first to give his home for the shoot because of the expensive things he had in it, which had been collected from around the world.

"But after giving a lot of thought, my wife and I gave our hearts out and agreed for them to shoot in our home.

"Some movie producers from Hollywood have also approached us to use our home for shooting but we said no."

Mr Ali and his wife Prabha also had the opportunity to play the role of the lead female actress Veena Malik's parents in the movie.

"It just happened that the director asked us to play the role of her parents and it was a very nice experience.

"In the movie we are in India but the set-up is here in my home in Denarau.

"Actually, word is going around in Bollywood about Fiji and the director of this movie even suggested to me that they will bring models from India and shoot a multi-racial movie here.

"They just can't believe that we still follow our culture, and the people of Fiji are a plus for them," said Mr Ali.
