THE average family can now own a computer set, complete with free internet services, a printer and a mobile telephone available through quick and easy financing terms.

This as Home Finance Company (HFC), Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) and Connect Internet Services teamed up to offer customers one of two appealing computer packages in its Quick Finance service.

Available at any TFL stores around the country in the next two weeks, the packages, financed through soft loans from HFC, with maximum repayment of $50 a fortnight.

"TFL and its internet service provider Connect is very much aware of the role the internet plays in our everyday lives. We understand that a major obstacle to accessing valuable information available via the internet is the cost of purchasing either a laptop or desktop PC so we have partnered with HFC to give customers a quick financing option to help them keep abreast with what is happening around them," TFL's acting chief executive officer Ivan Fong said as the agreement was signed between HFC and TFL in Suva yesterday.

Mr Fong said today's educational environment was quick becoming reliant on research via the internet for students school projects and research.

"There has been a drive from the government to ensure that broadband is available to as many people as possible. We are mindful of government's initiative to broadband the nation and as a company which has brought many firsts to Fiji in the telecommunications space, it is only right that we take the lead in the drive to making internet access available to the nation and we are proud to partner with HFC to make this happen," Mr Fong said.

Speaking at the launch of Quick Finance chief executive officer Isikeli Tikoduadua hailed TFL for the initiative and said HFC was prepared to sign up similar ventures with its other partners in the time ahead.

"HFC will provide financial assistance to customers working with the TFL group to deliver products and services to its customers.

"We recognise that there is a demand for laptops, printers and the likes but customers do not have the type of finance required to purchase these items with cash, so HFC has stepped in to provide the financing needed for customers to be able to purchase these items," Mr Tikoduadua said.
