A PRISONER'S dash for freedom was short-lived as he was recaptured by corrections officers just hours later.
Lisala Matavura, 54, escaped from a working party just before midday on Thursday.
He is serving a seven-year and seven-month sentence for burglary, theft and giving false information to a public servant.
Fiji Corrections Service public relations officer Ana Tudrau-Tamani said Matavura was recaptured by corrections officers at Togalevu at 12:30am yesterday.
She said Matavura was back at the Medium Corrections Centre in Naboro.
