HONIARA (SIBC) - John Michael Langsley has been sworn in as Solomon Islands Police Commissioner.
Governor General Sir Frank Kabui appointed Langsley to the position last Sunday - an appointment which was announced in early March by Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo.
Langsley was sworn in at a ceremony witnessed by Prime Minister Lilo, Police Minister David Tome, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force senior officers and other senior government officials.
After Langsley's swearing in ceremony, Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo called on community sectors in the country to support the new Police Commissioner as he begins duties.
Prime Minister Lilo's call echoes a similar statement made by Sir Frank Kabui who urged support for the new police chief from police officers, government and the people of Solomon Islands in order to perform his duties effectively.
Langsley also signed his contract with the Public Service Commission at the Prime Minister's Office yesterday.
