ATHLETICS Fiji (AF) will today begin a three-day coaching course to assist with the developments of athletics at grassroots level.
AF president Albert Miller said 30 participants were invited to join the course which would be held at the Marist Brothers' High School grounds from 9am to 4pm today, tomorrow and Saturday.
He said the course was designed to equip participants with knowledge and skills which could be used for proper athletics coaching.
"This is the first coaching clinic for the year and we are encouraging individuals and teachers in the Eastern Division of either primary or secondary schools to take up the course," Miller said.
"We are focusing the course on the basic techniques which can be used for the different event in an athletic competition," he said.
He said this was an opportunity for individuals and teachers to gain the knowledge and basic coaching techniques.
"Currently we have three teachers from Rotuma who are in Suva taking part in the course รน when they go back they can use the knowledge and skills to better train their athletes."
Miller said another course was likely to be held in the west later in the year.
"Interested participants for the Suva course can contact the Athletics Fiji office on 3306470 to register their names.
"Participants will receive certificates of participation at the end of the course," he said.
