RESIDENTS of Naodamu Housing in Labasa launched their first-ever crime prevention committee last week.
Chief guest and Commissioner Northern Lieutenant Colonel Ilai Moceica said the new committee would help reduce the rate of criminal activities in the area.
He told the residents that the formation of the new committee would be a relief for the police.
The initiative will lead to more committees being launched in other parts of Vanua Levu this year.
The police jazz band added flavour to the launch with their entertainment and live music performance.
