Flood appeal a success

A Lautoka man is now the proud owner of a 40-inch JVC flat screen television after he took part in the Picnic at the Park Flood Appeal text promotion spearheaded by Carpenters Motors Fiji Ltd and Vodafone Fiji.

Vinod Kumar said he was grateful to the two companies for giving him such a "wonderful gift".

Mr Kumar was one of four lucky winners to walk away with prizes during the flood appeal campaign organised by Carpenters Motors.

Carpenters Motors general manager John Duncan said this promotion was very good because of the fact that it contributed to their flood relief efforts for people affected in the recent floods.

Mr Duncan said the competitions ran simultaneously with their Picnic at the Park Flood Appeal last Saturday in Suva's Albert Park where people contributed money and clothing.

He said from the picnic alone, they managed to raise $4021 and half a container of clothes.

"People were very generous and they were willing to contribute whatever they could. We obviously do our best for the people of Fiji and we're thankful to be able to contribute to a good cause," said Mr Duncan.

Mr Duncan also said they gave a rental car to a group of expatriates in Denarau who have been heavily involved in relief efforts in Nadi.
