IT was like New Year had come early here as the LICI Crompton Cup champion team arrived home on Wednesday afternoon.
It was a long wait for the islanders as the MV Lady Sandy was forced to return to Suva after experiencing unfavourable weather conditions last Friday.
In thanking the players for their achievement the turaga ramasi of Moce, Setareki Malupo said it was their sheer dedication and sacrifices by the vanua and the lotu. "You done us proud," he said. "Today is New Year for vanua of Delaimakotu and our neighbouring island," he said.
Joining Moce island for the celebrations were their traditional ties from Komo, Oneata and Namuka-i- Lau. The celebrations went on all night and will continue until tomorrow.
