The fourth stanza of the poem 'For the Fallen' by Laurence Binyon (1869-1943) known as The Ode has become a traditional recitation on Anzac Day.
According to The Australian War Memorial website, the use of The Fallen (The Ode) on Anzac Day might have originated with the Queensland Anzac Day Commemoration Committee, which printed the poem on the cover of a collection of sermons and addresses for Anzac Day, published in 1921.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."
