ENTITIES that value the essence of life will gain the support and commitment of the Bank of the South Pacific, managing director for BSP Life Malakai Naiyaga said.
His comments follow the presentation of a $5000 cheque last Friday to the Fijian Teachers Association for its annual delegates' conference.
Mr Naiyaga said the association was an important institution which had become an integral part of the bank's business growth.
"More importantly, its members look after the future wellbeing of our children.
"This contribution recognises the important role that teachers play in equipping our children to better handle the challenges that life may bring," he said.
Mr Naiyaga said BSP had as part of its community program an allocation for the education sector.
"Education plays a crucial role and through this presentation, the Fijian Teachers Association and even the Fiji Teachers Union reach out to the community. Teachers play an important role to the development of children," he said. BSP has set aside an annual budget allocation of $2000 for community programs and development.
Meanwhile, the Fijian Teachers Association general secretary Maika Namudu said the financial contribution from BSP would assist delegates of the conference travelling from flood-affected areas in the Western Division.
