MORE Fiji citizens living abroad arrived in the country in February this year compared to the corresponding period last year.

This, as visitor arrival for February this year dropped by 0.7 per cent or 260 from 37,399 to 37,659 in February last year.

The bureau said 4397 Fiji passport holders permanently living abroad arrived in the country in February compared to 2593 for the corresponding period last year.

Visitor arrival from Australia and the US also increased for the same period, the Fiji Bureau of Statistics said.

According to the bureau, there was a decrease in visitor arrival from Japan, the UK, China, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Canada and Continental Europe.

Total arrivals for February increased from 47,539 in February last year to 47,580 in February this year, the bureau said.

Total visitor arrival increased by 5.9 per cent between February last year and February this year, compared to its previous corresponding period, the bureau said.

For the 12 month period ending in February this year, there was an increase in visitor arrival from:

* China 36.5 per cent.

* Australia 7.7 per cent.

* New Zealand 5.7 per cent.

* Continental Europe 6.2 per cent.

* Canada, 2 per cent and,

* The US, 2 per cent.
