A MAN charged with two counts of murder has changed his plea.
Seremaia Momo is charged with the murder of Mere Navue and Tony Koroi at Kasavu in Naitasiri on March 13 last year.
On Friday, Momo's Legal Aid Commission lawyer Jerry Savou made two applications in the High Court in Suva. He said the first had to do with his client withdrawing the challenge to his caution interview.
Judge Justice Salesi Temo asked Mr Savou if he had thoroughly discussed the matter with his client.
Mr Savou said he did.
Justice Temo then asked if his client was not forced by him. Mr Savou said he did not and asked that the charge be read out to his client. Justice Temo said "So I take it that he (Momo) is voluntarily pleading guilty and doing it out of his own free will".
"That is correct," Mr Savou said.
Mr Momo pleaded guilty to two counts of murder.
The State requested time to prepare the summary of facts while Mr Savou requested 14 days to prepare the plea in mitigation.
He was directed by Justice Temo to also prepare a sentencing submission.
