A PROMINENT Ba canegrower strongly believes the Ba Bridge is a contributing factor to flooding of the central business district in the riverside town.
Rarawai and Penang Cane Growers Association chairman Gyan Singh said a detailed study was needed to verify his and other stakeholders' observations.
"We have noticed for a few years now that when the river rises, water hits the two extreme ends of the bridge on the banks of the river and flows back into the town area," he said.
"We have seen this happen time and again and that is why I believe a study should be undertaken to see what can be done to minimise this effect."
Mr Singh said the authorities had to look at all aspects and find ways to minimise the impact of flooding in the town.
