Heavy rain alert

THE weather office has issued heavy rain warning for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and Northern Lau.

A statement from Fiji Meteorological Service at 2.40pm yesterday also said heavy rain alert remained in force for Northern Lomaiviti and the Central Eastern parts of Viti Levu.

It also said heavy rain might lead to flooding in some areas.

Members of the public have been advised to listen to the radio for further information regarding heavy swells and the trough of low pressure.

A damaging swell warning was in force for the Kadavu passage, Koro Sea, Mamanuca, Southwest Viti Levu and Southern Lau waters.

People have been advised to secure their property and take measures to ensure the safety of their family members. Mariners have also been warned to refrain from going out to sea during this period of bad weather.
