'Baby' queen scoops title

THE stage lit up as the winner of Miss World Fiji was crowned last night.

The baby of the competition did not hold back tears when she was crowned by her predecessor Doctor Aishwarya Sukhdeo at the Suva Civic Centre.

Torika Watters, 16, said age should not matter in a pageant.

She said apart from beauty, friendship and knowlege was what counted.

Her mum Anne Hazelman said Torika saw the pageant as an experience to enjoy and not a competition.

Ms Watters will represent Fiji in the Miss World 2012 at Ordos, Inner Mongolia from July 18 to August 18, where she will promote her country and mental health.

She says mental health was an issue worth fighting for.
