THE TISI Sangam Fiji Foundation's charity work was boosted by a $40,000 contribution from the Vodafone ATH Foundation.

The cheque was given to TISI Sangam Fiji Foundation secretary general Damend Goundar who was grateful for the new partnership formed with the Vodafone ATH Foundation.

Mr Goundar said the money would help fund their food sustainability program.

"This is a very positive partnership. We are very grateful that our proposal was very well received by the Vodafone ATH Foundation and they identified us as a valuable charitable partner," said Mr Goundar.

"We are excited for the fact that we are going to reach out to the communities, to the farmers for our food sustainability programs."

Mr Goundar said they would supply farmers and rural schools with vegetable seedlings through their programs.

"We hope to at least reach out to close to 15,000 farmers and another 1000 families.

"Families can use the seedlings to grow their vegetables for their food while farmers can use the seedlings to earn an income while continuing with their farming rehabilitation.

"During these tough times, this is something that will be able to supply these families with a month's worth of food," he said.

Vodafone ATH Foundation chairman Lionel Yee said they were happy to assist the TISI Sangam with their charity work.

Mr Yee emphasised that it was through the passion of their staff that the Vodafone ATH Foundation was formed and also enabled the foundation to help other charities.

He said they made it one of their conditions to form partnerships with other charities so they could work together for the benefit of the Fijian people.
