COMMISSIONER of Police Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua yesterday admitted to the Northern Crime Prevention Committee that the police force had failed in many ways.

"We must admit that for those of us in uniform, we have failed in many ways and we are prepared to recommit ourselves to move forward."

Brig-Gen Naivalurua said it was important for any person or organisation to realise their faults, say sorry and move on.

"That is being humble and we admit our faults but we are prepared to move on. We are accountable to you for the work we do."

Speaking at the closing of the week-long crime prevention workshop in Labasa, Brig-Gen Naivalurua urged the committee members to create a safe and secure environment for the north.

"The north is known for many things. It is known for its beauty and you have a role to play in helping the north grow."
