A POLICE officer facing sex-related charges is uncle to the victim, the High Court in Suva heard.
Director of Public Prosecutions lawyer Shivendra Nath yesterday explained the prosecution had requested more time to file information because they were relying on information from the victim.
Justice Paul Madigan asked if the victim was related to the accused to which Mr Nath replied the victim was the 20-year-old niece of the accused although they did not live in the same house.
Justice Madigan extended bail for the accused but warned him not to approach prosecution witnesses, in particular the victim.
The case has been adjourned to May 11.
