Search for dump site

A NEW site for a rubbish dump on Taveuni has yet to be located.

Commissioner Northern Lieutenant Colonel Ilai Moceica said a site had been identified in Mua, towards the north side of the island but because of the presence of the agriculture research station in the area, initial plans were waived.

"We are looking for another rubbish dump site and that is still in the process," he said.

Hospital renovation soon

RENOVATION work on the old building of Savusavu Hospital will begin this year.

Divisional medical officer north Doctor Pablo Romakin said the old structure needed renovation.

"That work will take place soon as we are waiting for arrangements to be finalised before we start work," he said.

Hurricane season halts program

SEAWEED farming has been a continuing project in the north.

"We are waiting for the hurricane season to end before we move down to Naduri," Mr Billing added.
