State to serve disclosures

THE case of four people charged with urging political violence has been moved to mid-May.

This after the court heard that certain disclosures the defence had requested from the State were not ready.

Jointly charged in the case are Dr Mere Samisoni, Apete Vereti, Semisi Lasike and Mataiasi Ragigia.

Mr Lasike is represented by Suva lawyer Rajend Chaudhry, while Dr Samisoni is represented by Samanunu Vaniqi, Aseri Vakaloloma is the legal counsel for Mr Vereti while Filimone Vosarogo is representing Mr Ragigia.

When the case was last called, Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili told the defence lawyers to meet and come up with a common list of disclosure items.

Mr Ratuvili adjourned the case to May 16 to allow the State to provide the necessary disclosures to the defence.
