A RAIWAI family was shocked on Friday night after discovering a butter knife wedged in their milk loaf during supper.

Thomas Johns said he bought the bread from Nabua's Shop N Save supermarket the same evening and took it home for their evening tea.

"My son had just started slicing the bread when the knife hit something hard and when we looked we saw the tip of another knife stuck inside the bread," Mr Johns said.

He said he feared for the safety of other bread buyers from the supermarket bakery and has also raised the issue with the Nabua supermarket.

"This is the first time we've experienced this and it is shocking to see a whole knife in there," Mr Johns said.

He said staff at the bread shop were in denial when he showed them the loaf yesterday.

"They said that one of us must've put a knife in there," he said.

The customer said he would register a complaint with the Consumer Council tomorrow.

Our calls to the bakery yesterday were transferred to the manager, Shaten Prashant, who refused to answer.
