THREE water trucks are carting water to villages, schools and settlements outside the Water Authority of Fiji's meter zone in Sigatoka as the authority tries to provide water to those affected by the flood in the area.

However, the supply of water and power is expected to normalise this weekend, the Divisional Emergency Operations Centre in the Western Division has revealed.

Team leader Jiuta Waqavonovono said they had been told by the Fiji Electricity Authority and the Water Authority of Fiji that supply should normalise for the whole division in the next few days.

"We are expecting full power restoration by the end of business today (Friday) and water is expecting to be restored over the weekend," he said.

He said 95 per cent of the divisions had their power restored while more than 80 per cent received normal tap water.

FEA had restored 98 per cent power supply to most of the affected areas as of Wednesday. Repair work on the Buabua raw water main was completed on Thursday.
