HOUSING Authority has urged its customers affected by the flood to contact its customer relation centres.
"Affected homeowners who are insured under its Group Housing Insurance policy are encouraged to contact the nearest Housing Authority office within 30 days to lodge their claims for damage as a result of recent adverse weather conditions," the statement said. The Housing Authority flood insurance cover provides financial assistance in excess of $1250 to meet repairs to property and applies to homeowners that were affected particularly in the Northern and Western divisions.
"Apart from those homeowners who are covered under the insurance policy, we will also be looking to assist all our customers who were affected by the flood on a case by case basis," Housing Authority chief executive officer Alipate Naiorosui said.
Housing Authority also has other lending facilities such as the Quick Repair Loan at an variable interest rate of 7.99 per cent per annum to assist with repairs to property and also a Personal Loan to assist existing homeowner customers to be able to re-establish their lives.
"If your facing genuine financial difficulty as a result of the adverse weather conditions over the last three months, its important that customers come forward to make arrangements on their home loan accounts and discuss options available to them during this time," Mr Naiorosui said.
The Group Housing Insurance policy provides Housing Authority homeowners with coverage against fire, cyclone, earthquake, tidal wave, flood and electrical damage to their houses only.
