Dinner in the dark

THE United Blind Persons of Fiji (UBP) will hold a fundraising Dinner in the Dark at the end of this month.

The UBP, a non-governmental organisation which advocates issues on behalf of its members, says it wants to give guests an experience what blind and visually-impaired people face.

"This fundraising dinner is an awareness tool through which guests will, for the first time, experience eating a meal with limited or no lights at all," said UBP project officer Ruci Senikula.

"This is the first time in Fiji such a fundraising is being organised as a dinner and awareness tool for the general public," she said.

Senikula says, "the money raised from the Dinner in the Dark on March 31 at the Central Cuisine restaurant will go towards the organisation's administration costs."

The group will hold its annual general meeting on the same day.
