Channel 9 of Australia will now air on Mai TV Fiji after the two television stations forged a formal relationship last week.
Mai TV had several weeks of trials with Nine network's Channel 9 news but the official program was launched on Friday.
"We are happy to be finally showing their news package in Fiji," Mai TV general manager David Hotchin said.
Mai TV and Nine have managed to by-pass high satellite costs by using an automated file transfer protocol system on the internet allowing Mai TV to import large files from Sydney within 10 minutes of the LIVE broadcast in Australia.
The Channel 9 Australia news will air daily at 11.15pm and repeated at 1pm.
Nine News joins TVNZ, Al Jazeera, Fiji News, Australia Network News in the portfolio of news offerings by Mai TV.
