EUROPEAN travel professionals arrived in Nadi on Monday to begin training on how to sell Fiji as a holiday destination to their respective countries of residence.
One hundred and twenty-five Europe-based tour operators, media representatives and Matai specialist travel agents from fourteen countries including Russia touched down at Nadi and were welcomed by Tourism Fiji personnel before beginning their training as part of TF's Europe Bula Academy.
A statement issued by Tourism Fiji says the purpose of the trip is to "educate the operators and agents on the ever increasing travel opportunities the destination represents to their many different client bases".
The group will visit Nadi, Denarau Island, the Coral Coast, the Mamanuca Group, Yasawa and properties based in the Northern Division.
"They will have the opportunity to undertake a variety of sightseeing tours, soft adventure activities, spa treatments and experience first-hand Fiji's unique living culture," Tourism Fiji said.
Their visit will culminate with a one-day intensive workshop on November 12 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island.
The visitors were awarded a surprise welcome ceremony which included escorts by traditional Fijian warriors.
The welcome was organised in conjunction with Airports Fiji Limited, ATS Pacific, Rosie Holidays, Tourist Transport Fiji, Pacific Destinationz and APTC.
