CONNECT has improved its service by providing "clean and safe Internet" broadband packages targeting parents, schools and businesses.
A statement from the company says the new "innovation" provides subscribed Connect customers with an armoury to better manage their Internet usage.
The package will use the latest web-filtering technology to protect Internet surfers from accessing websites that contain inappropriate or obscene content among other options available.
"The 'clean and safe Internet' broadband packages will help safeguard Fiji's citizens by giving them full control of choosing content they want to grant or restrict access for their families and employees," Connect general manager David Eyre said.
"Connect has realised the maturity of customers after sharing a history that spans more than 15 years, longer than any other Internet provider presently operating in Fiji.
"The experience has allowed the company to be the first to respond to community sensitivity on Internet usage and again demonstrate its leadership in Fiji's Internet market.
"Connect customers often say they are unable to go through the day without accessing the Internet because of their need to stay in touch, homework help for the children, entertainment and more.
"At the same time, concerns have been raised over security for their children or business in regards to accessing illegal or unwanted sites".
Customers would also be able to block access to harmful, inappropriate, and dangerous websites which may contain phishing/pharming attacks, malware such as spyware.
"Customers wishing to sign up will need to be a Connect customer before upgrading with package.
"Connect Internet services is looking forward to receiving a lot of interest in relation to this new technology and remain confident in having new customers with clear indications from growing Internet demand," the statement said.
