THE United Nations Population Fund is concerned with youths engaging in unprotected sex.

UNFPA Pacific Sub-Regional Office director and representative, Dirk Jena said sexual activity should be safe at all times.

Mr Jena said the biggest challenge facing youths today was staying out of sexual reproduction problems.

Speaking to The Fiji Times, Mr Jena said, "Young people should be careful of their peers and sexual activity should be safe.

"They shouldn't get HIV/AIDS - often they say dual protection but I believe it should be triple protection.

"The UNFPA is concerned with this particular issue affecting youths today and if they are not careful, then they may end up with pregnancy at an early age."

Mr Jena said sexually transmitted infections affected the potential in youths to have children later in life.
