iTaukei scholars listing complete

THE Ministry of iTaukei Affairs awarded 663 new scholarships at the end of its selection process last week.

The Information Ministry says that of these, 21 were offered overseas awards, 16 for College of Medicine, Nursing & Health Science, 310 for the University of the South Pacific and 316 for the Fiji National University.

Those successful applicants will join 1190 students who are continuing on iTaukei scholarships from 2010.

The Ministry of iTaukei Affairs is assisting 1853 students this year.

An allocation of $10million has been made to the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs to assist iTaukei and Rotumans seeking higher education, both locally and overseas.

Acting permanent secretary, Savenaca Kaunisela said the final selection was the culmination of three months' work.

Close to 5000 applications were received this year.
