Wedding bells

Sunday, December 05, 2010

Loma grew up in Lami and went to Yat Sen Primary School before migrating to New Zealand with her parents. Here, she happily shares her special day - when she married the love of her life, Stino Rodan, son of Joseph Rodan, three months ago.

Couple: Stino and Loma Rodan

Married: Saturday 21 August 2010

Church: Sacred Heart Cathedral, Suva, Fiji as this was where I was baptised.

Priest: Father Iosefo Tuvere

Reception: Novotel Lami Bay ù Kulture was the band but we had some of our guests get up on stage and sing a couple of numbers too.

Photographer: Bruce Southwick and Bianca Terry, Zoom Fiji

Flowers: Kishore Datt

Proposal: Stino proposed to me on Christmas day 2004, at my parents' house. At that time we were not living in the same country; I was working in Japan and he was in New Zealand. I came home to NZ for the Christmas Holidays and on Christmas morning found a little box under the Christmas tree.

The Dress: Bought my dress off the rack at a Bridal Show in Auckland ù was a bargain at only $500 and original price was $1800. Company name is City Bridal and owner is Vera Wang (not the famous one ! )

The Wedding Party: Groomsmen were Stino's three cousins and his younger brother, Joseph Rodan Jnr. Bridesmaids were good friends and cousins.

Wedding Song: Because You Loved Me, Celine Dion (Stino is a huge Celion Dion fan! )

Most Special Moment: The whole day was special and memorable but a couple of things that stand out were having both my parents walk me down the aisle and having our friends from faraway places like Japan, Canada and the States share our special day with us.

Funny moments: Stino and I first laid eyes on each other way back in the day on the Lami school bus. So we had to have some of our photos taken on a local bus in the Suva Bus Station - I don't think some of our bridal party who live

in Suva found it as funny though as people they knew were calling out to them as we were taking photos.

Cutest moments: My two nephews doing their own rendition of a Michael Jackson dance at the reception.

* Loma and Stino go into the draw to win that Romantic weekend getaway at the InterContinental Resort and Spa. The winning couple's wedding story will be announced six weeks from now. So tell us your wedding story and keep those entries coming in. And who knows, it could be you! Good luck!
