UTILITY Jone Wesele is the captain of the Eastern Selection rugby league side.
The side will play a selection from the West with players vying for a spot in the Fiji Residents team.
Eastern Selection coach Poasa Qiri said Fiji Bati veteran Wesele was picked because of his experience.
He said the Makoi Bulldogs star was an excellent role model.
"He's a good player and an equally good communicator.
"He's the kind of player you need in your team. He's a player that you don't need to coach," the Nabua Broncos head coach said. "He encourages players around him."
Qiri has been forced to make three changes to his initial squad following injuries to Apakuki Mate, Aporosa Vosataki and Timoci Yauvoli.
The three have been replaced by Neori Buli, Apisai Masikerei and Iliesa Cokanasiga.
"We've been working on a pattern that will involve everyone in the team," Qiri said.
"We'll need to utalise the ball well.
"Moving up a notch from club level, the game plan doesn't really change much. What matters is how the players adapt and make moves."
FNRL general manager Steve McClellan said the Fiji Residents side comprising players from Fiji's premier grade club competition would play in a Tri-Nations tournament against Fijian resident teams from Australia and New Zealand.
"The Fiji Bati team to play Tonga, Cook Islands and New South Wales Country in October will be picked from this tournament.
"We're looking at 22-25 players for the Fiji Residents squad," McClellan said.
The East versus West friendly will be played at the Corpus Christi grounds at 12.30pm.
