FIJI is set to host its first-ever Country Music Festival.
The inaugural week-long country music bash starts tomorrow (Sunday) at the Hideaway Resort on the Coral Coast and will feature a daily serving of some of Australia's finest country music recording and performing artists.
Resort officials expect more than 100 travellers to join the all-star line-up of Australian entertainers such as John Williamson, Bill Chambers, Felicity Urquhart, Jim Haynes, Jonah's Road, Glen Hannah And the Ashleigh Dallas Band.
The festival is the brainchild of Chris Watson, the director of Travelworld Tamworth in Australia.
Mr Watson, a country music fan, entrepreneur and a national line dancing champion, created the festival and developed holiday packages which will see the Rydges Hideaway Resort overtaken by country fans looking for some Fiji fun and sun.
Hideaway general manager Kerry Blackburn feels it's important locals are made aware of Fiji's first ever country fest.
"This is an event that should be shared," he said.
"It's Australia and Fiji coming together to celebrate a universal language - music.
"I personally hope that we are overwhelmed with locals looking to come by and join us in all the festivities."
Mr. Blackburn said he's seen the entertainers' performances on YouTube "and I can't wait as well".
"There are some truly fantastic talents coming our way in just a few short days," he said.
